Comments to HUD on Fair Housing Rule

March 16, 2020

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proposed an Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule, repealing a previous 2015 rule that had developed more effective policies and improvements to resident welfare, especially among members of protected classes. We submitted comments detailing the deficiencies of the agency’s regulatory impact analysis. HUD fails to consider the benefits of the 2015 rule that will be forgone by the repeal and overestimates the cost savings that will result from the proposed rule.
