Jayni Foley Hein
Natural Resources Director (On Leave)
Jayni Foley Hein is the Natural Resources Director at NYU School of Law's Institute for Policy Integrity, where her work and teaching center on federal climate, energy, and natural resources policy. She is currently working as Senior Director for Clean Energy, Infrastructure & NEPA at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) in the Biden Administration.
Previously, she served as Executive Director of UC Berkeley School of Law’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment and as an attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP. She has testified before U.S. Congress on federal mineral leasing, and before the California legislature on environmental and transportation regulation. She has authored numerous academic articles and reports on climate and environmental law topics and her written commentary has appeared in a variety of news outlets, including The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Slate, Politico, U.S News, and The San Francisco Chronicle. She earned her J.D., Order of the Coif, from UC Berkeley School of Law, and her B.A., with highest distinction, from the University of Virginia.
